Presented by the Leduc Art Club in partnership with the Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo
 
Celebrate the spirit, energy, and stories of rodeo culture through art! The Black Gold Pro Rodeo Art Competition & Exhibition invites emerging artists to showcase original work inspired by Rodeo, Western, and Indigenous themes.

Works will be exhibited at the Leduc Arts Foundry, with exciting prizes and public recognition - including the chance to be featured on the official Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo program.

Theme: Rodeo / Western / Indigenous
All Mediums Accepted: Original artwork only — no digital or AI-generated pieces.

Important Dates

  • Submissions Open: January 15, 2026

  • Submission Deadline: April 24, 2026

  • Artwork Drop-Off: April 30, 2026 | 4:00–7:00 PM | Leduc Arts Foundry (LRC)

  • Awards Presentation: May 8, 2026

  • Artwork Pick-Up: May 31, 2026 | 3:00 PM–6:00 PM

Where is the Show?

All accepted artwork will be professionally displayed at the Leduc Arts Foundry (LRC) for the month of May.

Public voting will take place both in person and online, giving artists broad community exposure.

​

The first place artwork will be featured on the official Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo program, reaching thousands of attendees and community members leading up to the rodeo.

Who Can Enter?

Artists must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be between the ages of 15 - 24 as of April 24, 2026

  • Be a current resident of Leduc County, including: Leduc, Calmar, Thorsby, Warburg, Beaumont, Nisku, New Sarepta, Devon, Rollyview, and Pigeon Lake.

  • Submit a written statement describing:

    • What participating in the Black Gold Pro Rodeo Art Competition & Exhibition means to you

    • Where you are in your artistic journey and how this opportunity would impact you.

  • Submit a fully completed application form

Prizes & Awards

  • First Prize: $1,500

    • Artwork featured on the Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo flyer and promotional materials

  • Second Prize: $750

  • Third Prize: $500

 

Additional awards/categories may be added at the discretion of the Leduc Art Club.

Jury Process

  • Artwork will be voted on by members of the public

    • Online Voting: May 1–7, 2026

    • In-Person Voting: May 4–8, 2026

  • Winners will be announced during the Awards Presentation on May 15, 2026

Registration Fee

A $25 registration fee is required to enter the Black Gold Pro Rodeo Art Competition & Show.

 

Payment must be sent within 48 hours of registering.

How to pay:

  • Please e-transfer $25 to treasurer@leducartclub.com

  • In the e-transfer message, include:

    • Your full name

    • “Rodeo Art Competition”

    • The e-transfer security answer (if needed)

If you don’t have access to e-transfer, no problem — email our Treasurer to arrange another payment option (cash or cheque): treasurer@leducartclub.com.

Submission Guidelines

  • Artists must be aged between 15 - 24

  • Artists may submit one (1) original artwork

  • Artwork must:

    • Be 100% original (no reproductions)

    • Be created within the last two years

    • Follow the theme (Rodeo / Western / Indigenous)

    • No chuck wagon imagery permitted

  • Works may be for sale

  • Artist statement.

  • Accepted formats:

    • 2D & 3D artwork

    • Maximum size: 26” × 38” or 1,000 sq. inches (framed or unframed)

Uploading Your Art & Consent Forms

  • High-quality images must be uploaded with the registration form

  • Photos should be well-lit with no shadows or reflections

  • Please refer to this document on how to take proper photographs of your work.

    • File Must be named as: LastName_FirstName_Title_Medium_Size.jpg

Framing & Mounting Requirements

  • All 2D artwork must be dry and ready to hang with proper wire and screws

  • 3D works must be stable and exhibition-ready

  • No wet paint, loose materials, or unsafe structures accepted

Leduc Art Club Disclaimer

The Leduc Art Club is not responsible for any damage to artwork left at the show. While every effort will be made to handle and display artwork with care, it is left at the participants own risk.

Parental Consent & Artwork Permission

I confirm that I have parent or guardian permission to submit this artwork. I declare that the artwork is my original work and is not copied from or based on another person’s copyrighted material. I retain full copyright of the artwork while granting the Leduc Art Club and Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo & Exhibition Association permission to use, reproduce, and publish the artwork in any format for educational, advertising, and fundraising purposes. I understand that no payment or royalties will be provided, waive the right to review or approve its use, and acknowledge that this permission is non-exclusive, allowing me to reuse the artwork freely in the future.

Personal Information Policy

This information is collected for the purpose of organizing the Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo Art Competition & Show. I understand that my name, photographs of myself and/or my artwork, and any awards or recognitions I receive may be posted or used for promotional purposes, including but not limited to: the Leduc Art Club website, Facebook, Instagram, printed posters, or local newspapers.

I understand that my personal contact information, such as phone number, email, or mailing address, will not be publicly shared.

I also consent to the sharing of my registration information with Leduc Art Club, volunteers, and jurors for administrative purposes related to the competition.

I understand that I may withdraw this consent at any time by submitting a written request.

Waiver & Liability Disclaimer

By participating in the Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo Art Competition & Show, I acknowledge and agree that I release the Leduc Art Club, Black Gold Pro Rodeo, their agents, instructors, volunteers, board members, jurors, and representatives from all claims or liabilities for injuries, damages, or losses that may occur during the handling, transportation, display, or pickup of my artwork, or during any competition-related events.

I understand that this waiver covers claims arising from negligence or other acts or omissions by the Leduc Art Club, Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo Art Competition & Show, or any of their affiliates, and that my artwork is submitted and displayed at my own risk.

AI-Generated Art Policy

AI-generated artwork is strictly prohibited. Submissions must be 100% original and created by the artist. Any artwork found to be AI-generated will be disqualified.
