​Are you interested in painting more (or completely) abstractly? This workshop will help you shift your mindset through exercises, practice, and guidance. You'll come away knowing ways to start, develop, and complete an abstract painting.

Supplies:

​

The demonstration will be done using acrylics and possibly some watercolours, but students can work in acrylics, oils, or watercolors. It is recommended students bring just one of these media types.

To Bring:

• Palette or disposable palette paper
• Paints: acrylic, oil, or watercolour (bring at least 10 colours of your choice) Hairdryer (if working in watercolour)​ Palette knife (if working in oils or acrylic)
• Brushes (Recommended one small round with a point, plus a few favorite wider brushes up to 1.5" wide of any shape)
• 2 water containers
• Rags; Terry towel; Sponge
• Apron or painting clothes
• 12 pieces of paper or canvas pad for exercises (6"x8" to 12"x16")
• 2 canvas/canvas panel/wood panel/paper (12"x12" to 20"x20")
• Sketchbook (5"x7" or larger) and pencil for quick sketching
• Sketchbook/notebook for taking notes
• A few photographs that you might like to work from for the 'abstracted from external source' work

Optional:

• Floor easel
• Drawing tools
• Stencils/Scratching tools
