Often we have a wonderful vision for a painting in our heads but when we try to translate that onto paper it just doesn’t quite come off and we are left feeling kind of “meh". In this session, I will help you transform your vision into something marvellous!

You are invited to bring your ideas, sketches, and almost finished paintings to class and I will offer individual attention and suggestions on how to make your painting great again!

At the beginning of each class, we spend a little time exploring the  “rules” of composition, value, colour, line, story-telling and then we will take that knowledge to a painting. You are invited to bring your own subject matter and/or unfinished work to the classes I will also provide some images for inspiration.  We will work with watercolour on either yupo or cotton rag paper - whichever you feel more comfortable with or wish to explore further.

This is a watercolour class suitable for any level of painter.

Artist Statement:

My work is not intended to be a faithful reproduction of the landscape  before me. Instead I paint by feel. The paintings that evoke the most emotion are those completed on location where I am able to allow my  surroundings and the weather to dictate how I proceed. I try not to  worry about the ending, rather I let the painting unfold and track its  own course across my paper. For me painting allows that perfect quiet,  where I am peaceful and at peace with myself, and my surroundings. It's  an escape from the everyday, a chance to experience the earth more  fully, a chance to breathe and know that all is well. To put it simply, I  paint because it makes me happy. My hope is that the viewer can find a  similar joy and peace in my work.
