The Painted Rider

Allison Sampson
Acrylic
Painting
12" x 12
$200.00

The Painted Rider draws on Alberta's rodeo history; where horsemanship, resilience and performance have long shaped Alberta blue collar culture. The rearing horse reflects the strength and tradition of the West, while the rider introduces a contemporary voice that speaks to the timelessness of Cowboys and Rodeo.
By pairing familiar rodeo imagery with bold self-expression, the piece speaks to how Alberta's cultural identity continues to evolve. The circular format echoes the rodeo arena, suggesting both continuity and change.
This work honours the past while recognizing that the spirit of the West has always been defined by those willing to step forward and be seen.
