A native Albertan and home-grown artist, Katherine’s love for the arts began with “Pierre Trudeau with Rose” while still a budding teen. Not until later in life, however, did that love take on a more structured
After many joy-filled hours of exploration and workshops with talented instructors such as Frank Haddock, Susan Woolgar, and Brent Laycock, her portfolio filled up with oils, watercolors, acrylics, printmaking, mixed media, pastels, and face painting.
Although she enjoys the different mediums, her introduction to Encaustic Painting (painting with wax and heated tools) plumbed the passion we are all born with, needing only a spark to come alive.
“This passion became life changing and birthed a desire to see more growth, not only as an artist, but also to give back”. Her sense of her artist-self evolved through this luminous and intuitive art form which resonated deep in the Spirit. More recently, she favors Encaustics, Acrylics, and Watercolors leaning to a more Realism Abstract form, loving the play with pure vibrant colors.
Katherine has been employed as a graphic artist, window painter for holidays and special events, contracted to the Town of Edson as Face Painter for special events and for adult and children’s Art Workshops. She loves to hold Art Parties for Life Events, Team Building, or just a ‘something different’ for a night out.
“It is an exciting time, stretching and growing, finding different and unique ways to share creations of the heart.”
When not painting, downtime is filled with music which led to joining the Telford String. She loves to
play guitar, sing, and perform. Also, loves to garden and cook.
“Nature, in all its created glory, lifts my Spirit and inspires me.”
