Shirley McIntosh
Shirley McIntosh has lived in Leduc all her life and always admired art and thought how wonderful it would be to be able to make such beautiful paintings It wasn’t until later in life, when a good friend suggested she take up painting, she decided to give it a try. That was when, in the fall of 1999, she joined the Leduc Art Club and has been painting ever since.
Mostly, she paints from photos taken throughout the years. A number of her art is painted in oils but she also enjoys creating in pastel, water color, and acrylic.
She has studied under Coral Horner, Jim McIntyre, Tyler Thompson, Cindy Revel, David Shkolny, Rose Mears, Gene Prokop and has even taken classes at the University of Alberta Extension Programs.
Shirley is actively involved in clubs such as the Leduc Art Club and Leduc Seniors Art Club. She was also involved in clubs such as the Society of Western Canadian Artists (SWCA), and the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association (ACACA).
Her paintings have been shown in venues such as the Elsie Johns Gallery, Leduc Seniors Gallery, Pro’s Art Gallery, Leduc Art Club Show and Sale and ACACA Art show held in Leduc and at the Leduc Hospital.
