Using Golden Coarse Molding Paste and Golden Fluid Acrylics, students will create a simplified landscape on an 16” x 20" panel support which incorporates texture. This class will showcase Golden Coarse Molding Paste as a fabulous texture to create unique and yet refined acrylic paintings. Students will learn about composition, color mixing, adding paste into acrylic paint as well as application techniques and finishing techniques.

Students will be provided with a reference photo to work from for the class as well as an in- depth list of supplies for purchase.

Support Preparation

If you are using an unfinished birch panel as your support (The term "support" refers to any material onto which paint is applied) for this project please follow these steps first before beginning the course. Using the smooth side of the raw birch panel, apply a thin coat of Golden Gloss Medium (students can also use GAC 100) with your Hog Bristle Brush. This coat seals in the birch, preventing support induced discolouration.

This coat seals in the birch, preventing support induced discoloration. Support Induced Discoloration (SID) is a phenomenon that occurs in acrylic paints and mediums. Many common artist supports have impurities that can discolor a translucent acrylic gel layer or color glaze, and a size must be applied before gessoing to ensure the products stay clear as the films dry.

Once this thin coat is dry, apply a thin coat of Golden Gesso with your Hog Bristle Brush. Allow this to dry before painting on this panel.
